Fidschi ratifiziert als erster Staat das Paris-Abkommen Ereignis

Am 12. Februar 2016 ratifizierte das Parlament des südpazifischen Inselstaats Fidschi als erste Volksvertretung der Welt das Paris-Abkommen. Damit das im Dezember 2015 in Paris beschlossene Abkommen in Kraft tritt, müssen mindestens 55 Staaten, die für 55 Prozent des weltweiten Treibhausgas-Ausstoßes verantwortlich sind, den Vertrag durch ihre nationalen Parlamente genehmigen. Die Fidschi-Inseln tragen 0,04 Prozent zum globalen Treibhausgas-Ausstoß bei.

Fiji became the first country in the world to formally approve the UN climate deal agreed by 195 nations in Paris in December 2015. On 12 February 2016 the island nation’s parliament unanimously agreed to ratify the Paris agreement, according to local news reports. The Paris agreement will open for signature in April 2016 to all 197 parties of the UNFCCC. It will enter into force only if 55 countries that produce at least 55% of the world's greenhouse gas emissions ratify, accept, approve or accede to the agreement.
