Protest gegen Arktis-Öl im Hafen von Rotterdam Ereignis

Als weltweit erstes Unternehmen fördert der russische Konzern Gazprom Öl aus arktischen Gewässern. Von Beginn an haben Greenpeace-Aktivisten gegen die Ölförderung in der arktischen Petschorasee protestiert. Am 1. Mai 2014 empfingen vor Rotterdam zwei Greenpeace-Schiffe den ersten Gazprom-Tanker "Mikhail Ulyanov". Die Aktivisten schrieben mit weißer Farbe „No Arctic Oil“ an die Bordwand Tankers und protestierten mit Bannern gegen die Fracht. Weitere Aktivisten positionierten sich mit ihren Schlauchbooten zwischen der Kaimauer und dem Schiff. An dem Protest beteiligte sich auch die Rainbow Warrior III. Insgesamt wurden bei der Aktion 44 Aktivisten von der Polizei vorübergehend in Gewahrsam genommen.

Rotterdam, 1 May 2014 - A group of 80 activists supported by the Greenpeace flagship Rainbow Warrior are attempting to stop the oil tanker Mikhail Ulyanov from delivering the first oil from a controversial drilling platform in the Russian Arctic. They are calling for a ban on offshore oil drilling in the Arctic and an urgent switch to new sources of energy.
One group of activists has painted "No Arctic Oil" in large letters on the hull of the "Mikhail Ulyanov" tanker, while other activists in inflatables are trying to prevent the ship from mooring by putting themselves between the quay wall and the tanker.
