Deutschland bewirbt sich um den Sitz des Grünen Klimafonds Ereignis

Das Bundeskabinett hat am 21. März 2012 die Kandidatur Deutschlands als Sitzstaat des "Green Climate Fund" (GCF) beschlossen. Sitz des Fonds soll die Bundesstadt Bonn werden. Ziel des Fonds ist, Entwicklungsländern Finanzmittel zur Verfügung zu stellen, um ihre Volkswirtschaften klimafreundlich umzugestalten und sich an die nicht vermeidbaren Folgen des Klimawandels anzupassen. Eingerichtet auf der Klimakonferenz 2010 in Cancún, wurde der Fonds auf der Klimakonferenz in Durban im Dezember 2011 operationalisiert. Er wird einen substantiellen Teil der Klimafinanzierung umsetzen, die bis 2020 auf jährlich 100 Milliarden US-Dollar anwachsen soll.

On 21 March 2012, the German Cabinet decided that Germany would express its interest in hosting the Green Climate Fund (GCF). The place at which the Fund's headquarters would be established is the Federal City of Bonn. The GCF provides funding to developing countries to help them make their economies climate-friendly and adapt to unavoidable consequences of climate change. The Fund was created at the 2010 climate conference in Cancún and was made operational at the Durban climate conference in December 2011. It will deliver a substantial portion of global climate finance, which is to reach an annual 100 billion US dollars by 2020.
