Der Gebrauch von fluorierten Gasen soll in der EU bis 2030 stufenweise um 80 Prozent sinken. Am 30. Januar 2014 stimmte der Umweltausschuss des Europäischen Parlaments dem entsprechenden Vorschlag des Europäischen Parlamentes und des Rates für eine Verordnung zu. Mit 46 Stimmen wurde der Vorschlag angenommen.
