Auf der Grundlage eines Vorschlags des Europäischen Patentamts hat der Verwaltungsrat eine Regeländerung beschlossen, wonach Pflanzen und Tiere, die ausschließlich durch im Wesentlichen biologische Züchtungsverfahren gewonnen werden, von der Patentierbarkeit ausgeschlossen sind. Die neuen Bestimmungen treten ab 1. Juli 2017 in Kraft.

On a proposal of the European Patent Office its Administrative Council took a decision to amend the relevant Regulations in order to exclude from patentability plants and animals exclusively obtained by an essentially biological breeding process. The new provisions will apply with immediate effect starting on 1 July 2017.
