skos:definition "Auf der 65. Tagung der Internationale Walfangkommission (IWC) im slowenischen Portoroz, beschloss die IWC Japan muss sein umstrittenes wissenschaftliches Walfangprogramm den IWC-Wissenschaftlern vorlegen, die es auf seine Stichhaltigkeit prüfen, bevor es wieder aufgenommen werden kann. Der Internationale Gerichtshof (IGH) in Den Haag hatte am 31. März 2014 verkündet, dass das japanische Walfangprogramm in der Antarktis nicht für wissenschaftliche Zwecke stattfindet und ordnete an, dass alle Genehmigungen, aufgehoben werden müssen. Dennoch hatte die japanische Regierung angekündigt, dieses Programm wieder aufnehmen zu wollen. Neuseeland, neben Australien einer der Kläger vor dem IGH, reichte daraufhin für die IWC-Tagung eine Resolution ein, die das IGH-Urteil verankern sollte. Die nachgebesserte Resolution wurde mit 35 zu 20 Stimmen angenommen."@de;
skos:definition "The 65th meeting of the International Whaling Commission (IWC) ended on 18 September 2014 with a landmark decision to impose better controls over any future whale hunts conducted for the purposes of so-called scientific research. In March 2014, the International Court of Justice determined that Japan’s hunts were not for purposes of science, and established criteria that the IWC is now seeking to incorporate. By March 2015, Japan plans to present its new whaling proposal to the IWC’s Scientific Committee. The committee then will have the opportunity to review the merits of what Japan puts forward, to test its compliance with the ICJ criteria, and to make recommendations to the commission."@en;
